In short: a super gutter is the large extruded aluminum gutter that runs along the house where a pool cage attaches. It drains the roof and carries the top of the cage. Resealing a leaking one in Cape Coral usually costs $175–$450; replacing it runs about $30–$55 per foot, as estimates.
Why super gutters leak
A super gutter is a heavy section that comes in fixed lengths, so unlike a seamless house gutter it has joints along the run, and each joint is sealed. Florida sun breaks that sealant down over the years. The gutter also carries the weight of the enclosure, so when a cage flexes in the wind, joints work loose. The result is a steady drip onto the pool deck or the lanai furniture, often at the same spot in every storm.
What we do
- Reseal joints and end caps: old sealant cut out, joints cleaned and refastened, new sealant applied.
- Re-pitch: a super gutter that has settled level or back toward the house is reset to drain to its outlet.
- Downspouts: added or upsized so the gutter isn’t overloaded at one end.
- Replacement: when the section is corroded, bent by a storm or patched beyond saving, a new one goes up, coordinated with a screen-enclosure contractor where the cage needs support during the swap.
Cage and screen work
We work on the gutter and the drainage. If your enclosure frame is damaged, rescreening is due, or the cage needs engineering after a storm, that belongs to a licensed screen-enclosure contractor, and we’ll say so rather than improvise. Replacing a super gutter often involves both trades, and we schedule around each other.
Super gutter price guide
| Job | Estimated price | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Reseal joints and end caps | $175–$450 | Number of joints, access |
| Replace a super gutter | $30–$55 / ft | Length, cage support needed |
| Add or upsize a downspout | $120–$250 | Height, route to the drain |
| House gutters tied in | $8–$13 / ft | Footage, corners |
These figures are estimates. Replacement depends heavily on how the cage attaches; we look at the frame before we quote.
Tying it into the rest of the roof
A super gutter usually picks up water from house gutters on either side of the enclosure. If those overflow, the super gutter gets more than it can handle. We look at the whole roofline, not just the section over the lanai, and size the downspouts and drains so the water leaves the deck.
Pool cage super gutters: common questions
How do I know if my super gutter is leaking?
Drips on the lanai or pool deck along the house wall during rain, dark streaks on the gutter face, or water stains on the screen frame below it.
Can a super gutter be repaired instead of replaced?
Most can. Resealing and re-pitching fix the majority of leaks. Replacement is for corroded, crushed or badly bent sections.
Do you rescreen pool cages?
No. We handle the gutter and drainage; rescreening and frame repair belong to a screen-enclosure contractor.
